His Stolen Horses on the front cover (1898, oil on academy board, 24 1/2 x 30 1/2 framed, Rockwell Foundation purchase, courtesy the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, Corning, New York) dramatically depicts the subject of Dan Flores's article that appears in this issue - the relatively unknown story of the wild horse trade in the American Southwest.
